About a month ago I shot a music video for my song "Vampire" off my upcoming album "One Immortal Day." In one scene me and my co-star, Rinat, are on a bed floating on a swamp. I just saw the rough cut of the video, and it looks uh-mazing! Here is a sneak peek:
The floating bed was the hair-brained scheme of my music video director Jennifer Tzar. Let me tell you a bit about this lady!
Jennifer was born and bred in the backwoods of Minnesota. She started her career as a stylist at SONY, and when it was time for me to choose the photographer for my debut album "Sky with Stars," I chose her arresting and dreamy images from a stack of more seasoned photographers. In fact, my album cover was her very first record package shoot! Fast forward 10 years when the make-up artist for my albums "MagiCat: Up the Rabbit Hole" and "One Immortal Day," Regina Harris, mentioned she was working with a super talented music video director, and guess who it was? It seems fate keeps bringing us together.
Jennifer is truly a Jen-of-all-trades. She has established herself as one of the premier fashion and celebrity photographers in the world. Here is a sampling of her roster: Ozzy Osbourne, Bruce Springsteen, Juliette Lewis, Snoop Dogg, and Zoe Deschanel, and her pictures have appeared in Spin, Rolling Stone, and Billboard, to name a few. I know right? My friends are awesome! Here are a few of my favorite of her images:
Is that rock n' roll enough for you?
Plus she's a songwriter and musician with a new album coming out called "It Just Happened That Way." Of course she's directing all her own music videos. Including one for her song "Solid As a Rock," an ode to a lost love extolling his virtues, and featuring some, ahem, giant phallus-shaped rocks:
If that isn't enough, she's also a (very young) granny, with two beautiful daughters and one gorgeous grandson. Her daughter, Ona, is a very talented photographer in her own right, and lives in my favorite city, NOLA.
Oh yeah, did I mention Jen's a total babe?
It's all in a day's work for this Rennaissance woman. Check out more details at Jennifer's website:

Isn't she just? Granted it is hard to make Lily Cole appear anything other than stunning, but she looks like some child-like empress in this photo.
Who doesn't love an androgynous, chain-smoking angel?
This picture is worth about a million words!
But Jennifer isn't just an amazing photographer and music video director. She is also a badass convicted felon who spent four days at Rikers Island after a fire destroyed her building, leading firefighters to uncover 10 pounds of weed in her apartment!
